When the possessive apostrophe is applied to a word ending in s, the apostrophe goes after the s, and no additional s is applied, Douglas.

But many people say this is correct as well!

Douglas, the Associated Press says you don’t need an Oxford Comma. The people you cite and the Associated Press are monsters. Don’t be a monster, Douglas.

Also, bonus Douglases

I think it’s the Ferrari software that is doing it.

Demurosteer is actually right. It is “s’s” except in rare cases of historical proper nouns of certain significance (subjective).

Jesus’ disciples

Douglas’ disciples

Wait, never mind, DeMuro might be right after all...

Because If I linked my phone with it, it would probably say Daily’s phone. OR at least that’s what most infotainment systems I’ve seen do.

I always assumed that he was one of those weirdos that was just named Doug or Rick. Not short for anything. Just that.

I thought that only applied if the S makes it plural? If a word, or name, ends in S but is still singular I thought adding ‘s was correct?

Please link me to your AutoTrader.com/oversteer article for more thoughts on this quirk. Please make sure it’s pretty much exactly what you already said in your comment.

I don’t know nothin’ about that fancy Oxford wordin’. Just what was beat in to me by Mrs. Kraugh in 4th grade. Those were the longest 3 years of my life.

You’re correct.

Also, as he’s known as “Doug DeMuro,” the screen could’ve read, “Doug’s iPhone.”

What if there are multiple Douglases and they all own the iPhone cooperatively? Can it just be Douglas’s’s’s’s’s? With an extra ‘s for each Doug?

iTunes automatically names your phone, with the first name you entered when you set up your account (on your Mac). If my name was Fred, my iMac would be visible on various networks (including to my wifi router’s connection history) as “Fred’s iMac”, and my iPhone as “Fred’s iMac”. Except my name isn’t Fred, and even if it was I know how to change this, so my iMac is named a random string of digits (there was a keyboard smash or two involved) and my phone is “Þórr’s iHammer” because I’m a badass like that.
